WestEd has more than a dozen offices nationwide, from Massachusetts, Vermont, and Georgia, to Illinois, Arizona, and California, with headquarters in San Francisco.

The Learning Innovations Program (LI) at WestEd operates technical assistance and research in the areas of education, health and prevention. The education technical assistance work focuses on transforming educational systems in partnership with state and local educators, families, and communities to strengthen teaching and learning and to ensure equity so all students thrive. LI’s projects include a wide range of services and supports including technical assistance and professional learning related to curriculum design and implementation, school transformation, equity, leadership development, and state and local policy development. WestEd’s work, while varied, is focused on impacting outcomes for students through the development and cultivation of educational systems, practices, policies, and cultures that result in learning for all students. The Learning Innovations Program team consists of approximately 65 staff with presence and projects in over fifteen states, including all those on the eastern seaboard.

Position Description

WestEd is seeking an experienced education leader with a passion and commitment to supporting educational excellence. Strong candidate will have experience providing consulting and technical assistance for state and local education agencies to improve outcomes for all students, especially those disadvantaged by income, race, ability, and language. This position is for work within federally-funded technical assistance centers and will be responsible for leading projects in the areas of school improvement, implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act, educator effectiveness, standards and accountability and other areas that are priorities for states served by the centers, including states in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the U.S. The ideal candidate will have expertise and a successful track record working within state education agencies or as a technical assistance provider to state agencies to lead systems change in in education and have extensive understanding of the structure, operations and policies of state education agencies and education laws and regulations.


Responsibilities

• Design and provide content related technical assistance and accompanying resources to support clients’ goals.

• Provide expert consultation and strategic planning for clients.

• Design and manage technical assistance projects for state educational agencies related to school and district improvement with a focus on special populations, educator effectiveness, assessment and accountability, early learning and college and career readiness. 

• Serve as a member of the MACC Senior Leadership Team to implement evidence-based and results-oriented technical assistance.

• Develop and maintain relationships with high-profile clients, partners, and funders characterized by respect and trust.

• Plan, organize, and model practice for team members, gather and analyze data, complete site visits, design and facilitate project events, communicate with clients, prepare work products, and evaluate results of services. 

• Promote cross organizational partnerships and relationships.

• Develop products and resources that build and enhance the reach and impact of WestEd's services.



Qualifications

The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:

• Designing and providing content related technical assistance and accompanying resources to support clients’ goals.

• Providing expert consultation and strategic planning services for clients.

• Designing and managing technical assistance projects related to school and district improvement with a focus on special populations, educator effectiveness, assessment and accountability, early learning and college and career readiness. 

• Serving as a member of a collaborative Leadership Team to implement evidence-based and results-oriented technical assistance.

• Developing and maintaining relationships with high-profile clients, colleagues, partners, and funders characterized by respect and trust.

• Planning major educational initiatives at the state level, including, analyzing data, designing and facilitating events, engaging stakeholders, communicating with clients, preparing work products, and evaluating results. 

• Promoting cross-organizational partnerships and relationships.

• Developing products and resources that add value for clients and support them to reach their goals for improved education systems and outcomes.
